My "home-coming" to Australia in 1985 was a total disaster and it took me years to recover from it. I flew into Townsville on the 23rd of April 1985 full of hope and anticipation but all my dreams turned to ages.. I sat on the beach of Magnetic Island for the first few months after which I decided to go over into town Bought the unit in Sydney for $65,000. Tried desperately to sell it, even before cost, but couldn't. Had to hang on to it which turned out to be the best thing I ever did as it increased in value to some $350,000 by 2004. I have made some disasterous investments in my time - indeed, the majority of my investments, be they real estate or shares, turned out to be losers - but this wasn't one of them.
